Briggs Equipment achieves efficiency through payroll and HR automation

Briggs Equipment has been a SD Worx customer since 2007, with all seven of its companies using SD Worx’s payroll and HR solution. When their current contract was coming to an end, Briggs Equipment needed to decide whether to move to another payroll and HR provider or stay with SD Worx. 

For Payroll Manager, Angela Bagley, her priority was helping her and the team process employee payroll accurately. In addition, she was also looking to reduce the amount of manual administrative tasks such as logging and managing employee absences and tasks related to pensions. 

As an innovative business, Briggs Equipment examined other payroll and HR providers and solutions in the market. After careful consideration, they chose to stay with SD Worx but to upgrade to a newer version of the payroll and HR software and add on a module to help with pensions. 

“We chose to stay with SD Worx because we are familiar with the systems and they are very reliable; you know what you’re getting and that it’s going to work. We did look to market but there wasn’t anything that matched up to SD Worx’s products.” Angela said. 

Since resigning with SD Worx and moving to the new system, the payroll team at Briggs Equipment are more efficient due to the solution’s automation which has reduced manual tasks such as processing sickness and holidays. Angela and the team find SD Worx’s system easy-to-use and are seeing positive changes from employees using self-service across payroll, HR and pensions. Additionally, the module allows them to send emails to employees on the pension scheme, rather than paper letters. 

“The system is a lot easier to work around and everything seems clearer. We’ve added the absence module, so we don’t do sickness manually anymore. We just put the dates in, and it does it automatically. The more things I can have added to our system to make it less manual, the better!” Angela said. 

Although Briggs Equipment had to furlough some members of staff during the pandemic, they were able to adjust their payroll and set new allowances with guidance from SD Worx. With all staff members back at work, Briggs Equipment have a strong future ahead and their partnership with SD Worx will only continue to grow.
